Modified Magic is Adam Ramirez's instrumental project fusing psych rock, trip-hop groove, and film-score suspense.
Modified Magic is the instrumental project of Adam Ramirez, blending psychedelic rock, down-tempo trip-hop, and cinematic suspense into a sound built for digging through dusty record crates. The 2024 debut album, released via Library of the Occult Records on a 600-copy limited "Crystal Ball" vinyl pressing, is stocked by Juno, Soundohm, and Two Headed Dog. A new single arrives on cassette in 2026, ahead of a full-length in 2027.
Modified Magic began as a multimedia collective founded by Adam Ramirez and filmmaker Brendan McNamara, integrating film, music, and design into one creative vision. That fusion carries through the music itself: an eclectic blend of psychedelic visions, mysterious atmosphere, and avant-garde experimentation, defying easy categorization.
The self-titled debut album, written, recorded, and produced by Ramirez, arrived in May 2024 via Library of the Occult Records on limited edition "Crystal Ball" vinyl, 600 copies worldwide, with cover art by Nathaniel Hebert. It is stocked by retailers including Juno, Soundohm, and Two Headed Dog, and was covered by Complex Distractions ahead of release.
A new standalone single, pressed to cassette with a printed companion booklet, is out now via Feldt Design and Publishing, ahead of a full-length album due late 2027 on Library of the Occult Records.
Lilting strings, jazz-inflected drums, and chugging guitar, and enough candle-lit vibes to last you till Halloween.
